SALT LAKE CITY — The Luther Elliss legacy will continue at Utah.

Moscow Senior High linebacker Jonah Elliss, son of Luther Elliss, announced his commitment to the Ute program via Twitter late Friday afternoon.

“Ready for the next chapter of my life,” Jonah Elliss wrote. “Thank you God for blessing me and allowing me to play at the next level. Thank you to all the coaches and team who spent the time recruiting me.”

Jonah Elliss is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 91 outside linebacker in the country and No. 1 overall player in the state of Idaho.

His father, Luther Elliss, was one of the best defensive tackles in Utah history, earning a first-team All-American selection as a senior. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by Detroit and played 10 years in the NFL. He was a two-time Pro Bowler.

Jonah Elliss becomes the the eighth member of the Utes’ 2021 recruiting class, joining quarterback Peter Costelli (Mission Viejo, California), offensive lineman Kolinu’u Faaiu (Bothell, Washington), Snow College defensive tackle Tevita Fotu, wide receiver Deamikkio Nathan (Grand Prairie, Texas), running back Ricky Parks (Tampa, Florida), Bingham High defensive end Viliami Pouha and linebacker Trey Reynolds (Queen Creek, Arizona).
