Real Salt Lake agreed to an extension with rookie sensation Sergi Solans, the club announced Monday.
Solans is now under contract through the 2029-30 MLS season and has a club option for the 2030-31 season.
“Sergi has proven his quality and commitment from day one, and his on-field production speaks for itself,” RSL Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid said, per the club. “Rewarding him with this new contract was an easy decision. He’s a key part of our vision to bring trophies to Salt Lake now and in the years ahead.”
The 23-year-old leads Real Salt Lake in scoring this season with nine regular-season goals and 13 across all competitions. Solans has three more regular-season goals than the club’s second-leading scorer Zavier Gozo, who transferred to the Premier League’s Crystal Palace last week.
“I’m quite grateful to the Club to extend this contract,” Solans said, per the club. “I am also very thankful to the coaches for their trust and to the fans for their support from my first day in Utah — my job is not just scoring goals, I want fans to engage with the team and with me, showing their support for the team.”

Solans was born in Lleida, Spain, and came to the U.S. in 2023 to play at Oregon State University. In his lone season in Corvallis, Oregon, the Spaniard scored 12 goals in 10 matches.
It was the seventh-highest in NCAA Division I that season.
Real Salt Lake selected Solans 30th overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. He elected to return to college but transferred to UCLA while RSL retained his rights. At UCLA, Solans scored 16 goals in 19 games.
That season, he earned 2025 Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player, 2025 All-Big Ten First Team and 2025 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American honors.
In January, he signed a contract with RSL through June 2027 with club options for the next two seasons. He made his Real debut on Feb. 21.
Last week, Solans was reportedly linked to the EFL Championship’s Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
“My time in Utah has been very good so far, it is such an amazing place to live,” Solans said. “I tell everyone that the people in this state are so nice, the club is unbelievable, everyone is so willing to help, and we should all be very proud of that.
“I’m grateful because the coaches trust me, but every day it’s my job to keep proving myself, to keep raising the level, to improve for the future. One of the attributes of my success so far comes from working hard every day, not thinking too far ahead, having my feet on the ground, seizing the opportunity on the weekend, and enjoying that opportunity — soccer is hard.”
