Johns Hopkins has released a new interactive map that shows the global cases of the widespread coronavirus.
What’s going on?
- A once-mysterious illness has spread through China and now across the world. The coronavirus, called COVID-19, has led to more than 83,000 confirmed cases and 2,800 deaths global.
- There have been more than 36,000 recoveries from the illness.
- The Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University created an interactive map that shows where the coronavirus has reached and how far it has spread across different countries.
- The map tracks cases in real-time.

What about the United States?
- The map shows that the United States has had a limited amount of cases compared to the rest of the world. Countries in Europe and Asia have massive numbers of cases. Both both North America and South America appear limited in the amount of cases.
- There have been six total recovered patients in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins’ data.
