Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell are possibly being investigated for conspiracy, attempted murder and/or murder by the Idaho Attorney’s General office, according to EastIdahonews.com.

What happened:

 • Deputy Attorney General Colleen Zahn sent a letter after Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Marcia Murdoch requested the attorney general get involved in the case of Tammy Daybell’s death.
 • The letter revealed the Idaho Attorney’s General Office will take responsibility for the case. Fremont County officials will cover the expenses of the cases (except for personnel salaries).
 • These documents do not mean new charges have been filed against Chad Daybell or Lori Vallow Daybell, though, EastIdahoNews.com reports.
 • Tammy Daybell died in October 2019. Officials have longed deemed the death suspicious. Her body was exhumed in December from Springville Evergreen Cemetery in Utah. Officials are still waiting for autopsy and toxicology reports.

More from the case

 • Last week, Lori Vallow Daybell received a new hearing for bail reduction on an unrelated case, as I wrote for the Deseret News. Lori Daybell has been charged with desertion and nonsupport involving her children. Her defense team filed paperwork last week for a bail reduction. A hearing for such a reduction is scheduled for April 17.
 • According to EastIdahoNews.com, the bail reduction could face some problems:

“Courthouses in Idaho are currently operating at reduced levels due to a Supreme Court order in relation to COVID-19. Only limited hearings are being held and public access is extremely limited. The order expires April 15, two days before Daybell’s hearing, but could be extended if Gov. Brad Little alters his stay-home order.”
