WEST VALLEY CITY — The man fatally stabbed in West Valley City on Thursday night has been identified as 19-year-old Treyvon Stephens, according to a tweet from West Valley police Friday morning.

Lt. M.T. Johnson said police are searching for two men who fled after the stabbing. Police believe Stephens was hanging out with the two men earlier in the day before ending up outside a friend’s apartment complex, 4000 S. Redwood Road, where the stabbing occurred about 8:15 p.m.
“If anybody saw Treyvon hanging out with anybody yesterday, please give us a call,” Johnson said during a news conference Friday morning.
Police did not know if a dispute led to the stabbing.
After Stephens was stabbed, he ran inside his friend’s apartment where he collapsed, according to police. First responders rendered aid at the scene before he was declared dead.
Friday morning, West Valley police said they still had limited information, according to their twitter account.
“Investigators are back out there today canvassing and talking to witnesses,” he said.
No arrests have been made and police are searching for a white or silver passenger car, possibly 2012 Toyota Corolla, in connection to the stabbing.
Because no weapons were found at the scene, Johnson considered the two men “armed and dangerous.”
