Bountiful Mayor Randy Lewis speaks at the governor’s proclamation event designating Utah’s official Scouting for Food Drive at the Bountiful Food Pantry in Bountiful on Monday. The Boy Scouts’ Crossroads of the West Council, in partnership with Bank of Utah, Arctic Circle, Red Hanger, Smith’s Food & Drug and the Utah National Guard, invite people to collect and drop off nonperishable food at community donation sites statewide, which will then be delivered to food banks and pantries. The public can also participate in Scouting for Food Day on Feb. 6 when Scout troops will be asking for food donations at more than 50 Smith’s stores across the state. Suggested donations include beef stew, chili, soups, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter and boxed meals. The 35th annual food drive runs through Feb. 12.
