ATHENS, Ga. — After a dominant performance that earned numerous defensive honors, Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones is sitting out against Florida Atlantic because of a nagging groin injury.

The No. 7 Bulldogs decided this was a good time to rest Jones with the Owls followed on the schedule by seven straight Southeastern Conference games.

Jones is in uniform and came out on the field for the coin toss as one of the captains. After that, he watched from the sideline, cheering on his teammates.

Last week, Jones had perhaps the best game of his career in a 41-20 victory over Missouri with nine tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and his first career interception.

He wasn't the only defensive star sitting out for Georgia. Safety Bacarri Rambo and linebacker Alec Ogletree remain suspended.
