Marvel released a new trailer for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” during the Super Bowl, giving us a new glimpse at the show we can expect to see in March.
- The show debuts on Disney+ March 19 — about one month from now.
- The trailer shows Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) teaming up together for the first time after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” We see Wilson carrying Captain America’s shield, which he earned at the end of “Endgame” as well.

Context
“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” was meant to be the first Marvel series project to hit Disney+, with the original release date being August 2020. However, the pandemic delayed its release, which bumped “WandaVision” up on the schedule. Now, we’ll see “Falcon and Winter Soldier” just days after “WandaVision” wraps up its run.
Anything else?
Keep an eye on this show if you’re a Marvel fan. As I wrote about for the Deseret News, it appears “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” will bring back some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Falcon and the Winter Soldier” writer Derek Kolstad recently said on the “Script Apart” podcast that MCU legends could return.
- “What I will say is that there are characters from the earliest Marvel movies that are coming back,” Kolstad said. “We’re layering them in and reinventing them in a way that’s gonna shift the storytelling structure.
It’s still unclear how or when it’ll happen, but there were some reports earlier this year that Chris Evans would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
