Tours of the Cody Wyoming Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially began Monday with tours for the media.
Free public tours of the Cody temple — which will be the third Latter-day Saint temple dedicated in Wyoming — will begin this Thursday, Aug. 27, and run through Saturday, Sept. 12, excluding Sundays. Private tours for invited guests will also be held Aug. 25-26.
Following the temple’s public open house, Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the Cody Wyoming Temple on Sunday, Oct. 25.

About the Cody Wyoming Temple
Plans to construct the Cody Wyoming Temple were first announced by the late church President Russell M. Nelson in October 2021 general conference.
“Please make time for the Lord in his holy house,” President Nelson said, just moments before announcing the Cody temple and 12 others. “Nothing will strengthen your spiritual foundation like temple service and temple worship.”
Construction of the Cody temple began in September 2024 in the southwestern part of Cody, Wyoming, west of Skyline Drive and north of the Cody Canal.
The newly built Cody Wyoming Temple is a single-story structure of approximately 9,950 square feet. It is situated on a 4.69-acre plot and features a spire reaching nearly 101 feet.
“Located near the eastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park, the temple’s design motifs mirror the natural and cultural heritage of the region,” a recent church press release states.
Wyoming’s state flower, the Indian paintbrush, is featured in vibrant red throughout the temple’s art glass windows, decorative paint and other areas.
Multiple pieces of original artwork are also found inside the temple. These include “Heart Mountain Glory” by Mark McKenna, “Opening Day at Lower Falls” by Jim Wilcox and “August Morning — Mount Moran” by John Horejs.
Wyoming’s two other operating houses of the Lord are the Star Valley and Casper Wyoming temples, dedicated in 2016 and 2024, respectively.
Once dedicated, the Cody Wyoming Temple will join Wyoming’s existing temples in serving the state’s nearly 67,000 Latter-day Saints.
