European budget airline Ryanair announced Thursday that it is offering a “buy one, get one free” promotion for the first time in company history.

The promotion is available only on Value Fare bookings. It allows you to take a friend or family member on the same flight for free.

The deal is good for dates of travel between Sept. 25 and Dec. 14, according to Ryanair’s website.

The offer ends at midnight on Sept. 24.

“Anyone would be crazy to miss it,” said Ryanair’s head of communications, Alejandra Ruiz.

This promotion comes after Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O’Leary said Britain is at risk of “losing hundreds of thousands of travel and tourism jobs in the coming months, unless the government offers support to workers and eases travel restrictions,” according to Market Watch.

“EU travel restrictions have risen from 46% (Aug. 10) to 63% of routes being restricted on Sept. 1 (and likely risen since). We think for both Ryanair and the European aviation sector the possibility of further travel restrictions is an overhang,” an analyst at UBS wrote.

Recently, several European Union countries have established new coronavirus restrictions amid a surge in case numbers.

Hans Kluge, director of the World Health Organization Europe, said, “It’s going to get tougher. In October, November, we are going to see more mortality.”
