Grateful Dead keyboardist Brent Mydland, who died of undetermined causes last month, excluded his two young daughters and his estranged wife from his will and his estate of about $2 million. "I have intentionally omitted to provide for any person who is an heir of mine," the 37-year-old Mydland wrote in a will executed March 12, according to documents filed in Contra Costa County Superior Court. Mydland, keyboardist, singer and composer with the Grateful Dead since 1979, was found dead July 26 in his home in Lafayette. The cause of death has not yet been determined. His will, filed Thursday by attorney Ruth Dickerson, provides no benefits for Mydland's daughters Jennifer, 2, Jessica, 5, or his estranged wife, Lisa. The estate, estimated at $2,163,700 including Mydland's $600,000 home, was left to the trustee of the estate. Mydland nominated James Whitmer, an old friend, as administrator of the estate. The coroner's office said it was awaiting results of toxicological tests and said the cause of death would not be determined for at least a week.
