E. Ray Staley, 72, died Sept. 27, 1993 in a local hospital.

Born Oct. 26, 1920, to Elmer D. and Margaret Matilda Overson Staley. Married Marie Lane; later divorced. Married Leah Kathleen Fisher Hatch, July 19, 1947, in Evanston, Wyoming. She preceded him in death, Feb. 8, 1984.Ray was an avid sheep rancher, serving as past president and member of the board of dirctors of the Utah Wool Growers, past president of the Nevada Wool Growers, chairman of the Public Land Counsil of the Utah Wool Growers for the past 20 years, chairman of B.L.M. Salt Lake Dist. Grazing Advisory Board, director of the Utah Wool Marketing Association, and was devoted to the betterment of the sheep industry and better use of public lands. He served in the Navy C.B.s during Word War II.

He is survived by sons, Harold Hintze, Ken Staley and Lynn Staley; daughter, Ann Lambertsen; stepson, DeVar Hatch and stepdaughters, Barbara Hudson, Yvonne Thomas and Geraldine Tischner; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by two sons.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, Sept. 30, 1993, 12 noon, in the Grandview Third Ward Chapel, 2930 South 2000 East. Friends may call Wed. 7 - 9 p.m. Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, and Thurs. the hour prior at the Ward. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn.
