On Tuesday, June 15, 2004, Michael Dean Clawson, 47, peacefully passed through the veil surrounded by his family into the waiting arms of his loved ones, after a valiant four year battle with ALS.

Michael was born April 11, 1957 in Ogden, Utah.

He was the third child of George Neil and Joan Arlene Van Woerkom Clawson.

He married his eternal sweetheart, Janelle Kay Miller in the Salt Lake Temple, March 28, 1986.

Michael and Jan were blessed with their most prized possession, their son, Matthew Michael in 1991.

Michael was an active member of the LDS Church, serving an honorable mission to Columbia, South Carolina.

He served in many leadership positions, and was a missionary until the end. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1975. He earned his BS from BYU, and a Masters of Social Work from the U of U.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 16 years before being medically retired.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 18 short years, his son, parents, one brother, Mark (Sherry) Clawson, six sisters, JaNeil (Ben) Wilson, Evelyn (Dale) Johnson, Elaine (David) James, DeAnne (Michael) Holt, Colleen (James) Simmons, Lynda (Kevin) Willis, in-laws, Allen and Joyce Miller and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his sister, Shirley and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Forest Park LDS Ward Chapel, 2250 No. 2200 E., Layton.

Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the HAFB Honor Guard.

We want to thank all of our devoted family, friends, nurses aides and ward members who faithfully and lovingly cared for Michael and his family during the last 20 months of his life.
