Reid Lamar Green

Reid Lamar Green, age 62, passed away surrounded by family and friends on January 1, 2008 from complications from liver and kidney failure.Reid was born to John Franklin and Mary McMullin Green on November 20, 1945 and raised in Midvale, Utah. After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1965, he immediately served a mission for the LDS church in the Central States area. While later attending BYU, he married Anne Margaret Widtfeldt on August 20, 1969 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. After graduating in 1971 with a BA in Communications, they moved to Northern California where they raised seven children. Reid sold personal insurance and investments while serving in numerous lay positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed discussing the doctrines of the restored gospel and periodically taught early morning seminary studies to high school students. As an avid supporter of The Boy Scouts of America and as an Eagle Scout himself, Reid assisted 43 young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
All who knew Reid know that the Savior's commandments to "Love thy neighbor as thy self," and "Feed my sheep," were ingrained in his entire person. Hundreds of people have been blessed by his selfless acts of love and his expressions of charity.
He is survived by his children, Reid Jr., Marianne Higley (Kevin), Douglas (Jill), Robert (Amber), Josephine Aldridge (Kevin), Regina Chandler (Jasen), and Rachel Butler (Andrew), as well as 12 grandchildren and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., on Saturday, Jan.,12, 2008 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Midvale City Cemetery.
