MAGNA — Salt Lake County Animal Services is looking for the person or persons responsible for cutting off the ears of a cat.

Stauche Fillmore said his cat, Alize, came home Wednesday night covered in blood and with her ears missing.

“It looked like someone took a pair of scissors and cut them off,” Fillmore said. “You could just tell that it was somebody else, not another animal or a machine.”

Fillmore still has not come to terms with what happened to his pet.

“Why would someone do that,” he said. “This is some Jeffrey Dahmer stuff.”

Fillmore said Alize is known to walk around the neighborhood, but he is not sure where exactly the attack happened.

“We looked around our property, but the bad thing is we didn’t find a blood trail because it was raining so bad,” he said. “We couldn’t find any ears or anything like that.”

Fillmore said even though Alize will be fine and her ears will heal on their own, the damage is done. He wants whoever did this to come forward and apologize to his family.

He had a message for the culprit:

“There is something deep-seeded, deep darkness in you, so I would seriously talk to somebody,” he said.
