I’m excited to see two members of Utah’s congressional delegation taking positive steps on climate change.
Sen. Mitt Romney recently spoke favorably about a carbon tax as a conservative way to address the climate crisis during a forum hosted by the Sutherland Institute. In another encouraging move, Rep. John Curtis introduced the bipartisan Study on Improving Lands (SOIL) Act in the House. This bill directs the National Academy of Sciences to study soil health and the potential for carbon sequestration on federal lands. This bill is an important step for climate policy because it will provide critical data to inform policy that increases carbon sequestration and that supports sustainable agriculture.
Thank you, Sen. Romney and Rep. Curtis, for your work and voices on the urgent issue of climate change.
