EDEN — A cement truck driver was killed Friday evening in a crash near Powder Mountain, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 51-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, was driving downhill on state Route 158 — also known as Powder Mountain Road — when the truck went off the road, hit the hillside and rolled, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Cortney Ryan.

The crash happened about 6:40 p.m.

Investigators believe the crash was due to a mechanical failure with the truck, such as a brake malfunction, Ryan said.
